In other builders (all of them, basically, from Elementor to Oxygen) there’s the ability to change between visual and text tabs in the rich text (or equivalent) block.
This is incredibly useful for doing things like:
- adding inline span classes
- adding basic html where a widget may not be worthwhile
- styling lists via wrapped classes within a block of text
- using one element instead of a handful for a single content block (heading, divider, image, text, heading etc, all in one single block, with styles controlled by spans with classes for example)
If this isn’t too major an addition or change, it would be incredibly welcome

It's only the Rich Text element that doesn't have this option. Maybe we'll add it to the Rich Text element.
But if you do need to this, it's already extremely easy in Breakdance - just use the Text element. HTML is also supported in almost every text field in Breakdance.

Louis Reingold: thanks, but in Rich Text element I think we still need the HTML view. There is no 'clear formatting' button that I use all the time when pasting in clients text from Word etc. I can't see any advantage of the simplification of the standard WP text editor.

Louis Reingold: I just watched the loom video reply showing that it is already possible. So I didn't understand the difference between the rich text editor and text editor. I do now. I have tested both, neither of them do what I want in Breakdance. At the core of the issue is that the classic text editor in Elementor and Bricks makes life easy, the two in Breakdance make my life hard. I don't need two text editor options, I need one. Just like the regular one in Elementor or the Rich text one in Bricks. Because then I have all the controls without having to write any code unless I want to. I can paste as plain text, I can change the colour of certain words, I can use Blockquote, I can hyperlink and add open and follow code with a tickbox, with one click, all in the visual tab. If something is not working I can go into the text tab to find the issue. In Elementor the heading element does not have these options so I have to span code them which I hate doing as it takes so long just to make two words two different colours. The same problem in Bricks header element but worse as it won't accept html. I have attached screenshots of all three builders text option. And in your text elements I can't add padding unless I use custom css and with margin I can only add top or bottom with no option to link the two to be the same, there are no left or right options unless again I use custom css. Correction, after an hour, I just found the padding and margin settings, buried inside Advanced > Wrapper > Spacing eventhough there is another set of of controls also called Spacing under the style tab. When I searched at the bottom for padding all that came up was Padding Inline Start, half an hour later by complete accident I found that clicking the cog icon in search after performing the padding search then revealed the margin and padding settings. And it's under a menu heading called Wrapper. I have used maybe 10 page builders and I have never heard of wrapper before. That's crazy UI for your target audience of non coders. Every user leaving Elementor for either a Gutenberg visual builder or Breakdance or Bricks will go to the easiest to use alternative that has the lowest learning curve and the best set of building options that outputs clean code and fast loading websites. It is a lot harder to find the most used settings in Breakdance than I thought it would be. And the harder it is the less of a gap there is in the learning curve between Bricks and Breakdance. I was going to choose Breakdance as it would be easier and faster to learn but now I am not so sure. You are a developer, you designed and built Breakdance, you know where everything is and it all makes sense to you. But Elementor users like me are not developers. Elementor is great for people like me because it is so easy to find everything and the interface is simple to use. And no coding. But it is bloated with a slow backend and frontend and needs a lot of PSO work. Maybe get someone on your team that does not have your developer skills. That understands the limitations of your target market users like me. That can simplify the UI to make things easier to find and understand. That can make a series of training video's for users potential users like me. It looks like a great product, but if it's going to be harder to learn to use than Elementor, regardless of extra features, it won't make sense to switch.

This is very important to me as well. I frequently switch to plain text option to add class/id.
If I'm not mistaken, other page builder rely on Classic editor to do the job.
