Design Library: Save, import and export Template Parts
W
Wim Bommerez
There should be a template library with sections and whole pages we can build that should also be accessible to editors. Now I have to give clients Admin access to be able to access the library., so they can build new pages themselves using pre-built sections.
The library only contains existing website pages/sections, not empty templates. My clients now need to go through several pages to look for the sections they need for the new page. They regularly need to make new pages for new business cases.
The fact that this feature is missing is the main reason that keeps me from completely switching from Elementor to Breakdance, and I would really like to make the switch given the many problems with Elementor, breaking several sites I'm managing in the last update.

Louis Reingold Is there any update to this topic? Just asking because it is open since over 2 years and voted from many people.

Louis Reingold Two features will cover 99% of use cases for template creators and users:
1) One-click export / import of pages + template parts + global settings — preferably as a zip file.
For reference, please check out Elementor's import / export tool.
Currently, I'm packaging my templates in XML, but there are some issues:
* Each template type has to be exported one-by-one, then I combine these into one file so users don't have to import them one-by-one
* WordPress importer isn't installed and activated by default, so importing involves extra steps that users are not familiar with
* Silly user errors
2) One-click export / import of individual sections / pages / template parts from within BD editor or in BD templates area as JSON files (or any other file format).
Yes, we can copy-paste into a JSON file. This is simple for us familiar with this file format but that's not the case for many users. When I was selling templates this way, users ran into problems like these:
* No default application in their OS to open JSON
* Browser settings blocking copy-pasting from JSON
* OS settings blocking copy-pasting from JSON
* Silly user errors
These kind of errors are a complete waste of time for everyone involved.

Some commenters in this thread asked about exporting elements to JSON - you can also do that right now. Click an element, hit CMD+C or right click to copy it... then hit command V or paste in any text editor and you'll get JSON.

You can copy elements across pages and from one site to another site in Breakdance right now.
CMD+C on the source site... CMD+V on the destination site.

Louis Reingold: Hi Louis, the problem we're having is that we want a section to be reused across the site, similar to how Oxygen has reusable parts.
Use case:
We have a section with a background image, and a title, text and icon. We want to make this whole section reusable, but we currently can only make the content within a "Global Block". This means that we can't change the background image of this section globally, and would have to change it on every page as we've had to "CMD+C CMD+V" the section onto every page.
In short, we need to be able to make whole sections into "Global Blocks".
Thanks, David

I just started to use Breakdance for a new website after using Elementor for 5 years and I am really surpised that there is no way to save parts or pages as templates.

BD really needs a way to save parts for re-use on a site. Element Studio is a great concept, but often we don't need to be so formal. Just an easy way to spread elements across a site and edit them.

Allow export and import of templates individually or in bulk as JSON and ZIP. This will create the foundation for theme creators and users to sell and buy themes.
AlphaByte
Must have Library features:
-share my whole library or some items from my library with other sites I choose ( a list of domains )
-add/import multiple pages and websites into my library as remote libraries ( as in oxygen ) but for many remote websites
-exclude all others libraries from Breackdance and let only my libraries available to clients
-choose which library items ( individually ) from community library will be visible into my library
-upload a screenshot/image for each item of the library to see it visually !!!
-import/export each library item and the whole library as json file
-set a password for the library or an API key ( see Kadence Cloud )
-save sections, pages, websites, templates, code, settings ( see Divi Cloud )
-create my own categories and assign categories/tags/title/description for library items
-search my library by tags / category / title / description

AlphaByte: yes, I'd be surprised if we don't get some think like this in future, it will be a step closer to encouraging 3rd party sales trmplate integration also.
