A native option would be great, both rankmath and yoast are bloated and slow down websites quite a bit.

The breadcrumbs function from RankMath is pretty good, and all options from them are useful. So you can select on custom post types, like shoes what you want to display. the categories or tags in hirachical way and many more stuff. The Breadcrumb is not only a simple breakdcrumb... So it's the right way to use rankmath breakdrcumb and others from plugins.

Why is this marked as complete? The request was for a native breadcrumb element without additional plugins.

Some of us would like breadcrumbs purely from a UI perspective - regardless of SEO - without having to add on the extra weight from Yoast.

We're going to integrate with Yoast and RankMath, which are the best. We'll have a Breadcrumb element that can display breadcrumbs from Yoast or RankMath and style them directly inside Breakdance. Almost everyone who cares about breadcrumbs for SEO is going to be using an SEO plugin. The idea Breakdance is somehow going to do a better job on SEO-friendly breadcrumbs than dedicated SEO plugins is obviously ludicrous.

I use Yoast too. But 100% pointless to use another plugin for this. Seeing the options on Yoast and copying what that can do would be good. E.g. Choosing custom link text for the home link. Having or not having the link for home.
